Investigation: Around 8:00 PM Nancy and Amanda went over to the east side to take some pictures while there was still daylight. Nancy had already started recording with her digital voice recorder at this time and was able to capture a possible EVP.

Sometime after 8:00 PM the group started to walk around the west side of the cemetery. Whitney sat down near a woman's grave and said she was having a hard time breathing. She said it was like she couldn't expand her chest.

During the first group EVP session sometime after 9:00 PM, Trey said she sensed the presence of a little girl - who she felt really liked the nearby Mimosa tree. A little later on, Logan began expressing feelings of a jealous woman who had vandalized someone's grave. Upon searching the nearby graves we did find a double tombstone where the name on the right side had been smeared and covered up.

Around 9:30 PM the team decided to split into two groups to cover both sides of the cemetery (Highway 48 runs between and divides them). However before doing so, Amanda felt drawn further back to the area lined with trees and said she had sensed something over there.

While taking pictures in the cemetery between the times of 9:35 PM and 10:30 PM, Trey captured several orbs on camera. One of them was of Shelley right after she had said she felt a chill and the sensation that something was touching her arm. Another was taken of Shelley and Logan where they said they were feeling lots of energy like there was something all around them.

Nancy also recorded an EVP around 10:00 PM. Sometime around 10:30 PM Shelly used the dowsing rods to attempt spirit communication. The rods appeared to respond, crossing at the letters B and A.

The second group began to explore the east side of the cemetery. At 9:52 PM Amanda and Whitney reported getting a headache in the crown of their heads.

Around 10:10 PM Whitney said she saw a light behind a small tree next to one of the graves. Using the infrared thermometer she measured what appeared to be major temperature fluctuations ranging in degrees from the 50s-60s in that specific spot. Amanda felt something touch the back of her neck while she stood in front of the grave of "Robbie". Whitney then felt cold chills near Robbie's grave, and started to get a headache and feel queasy. Amanda said she was starting to feel drained, and could feel Robbie's presence there with us. Whitney felt his death was an accident. (She later researched this and found out that he had indeed died from an automobile accident.) Amanda agreed but felt he was at peace and had accepted what happened to him. She said he was in a good mood and enjoyed our company.

At 10:33 PM the group inspected a grave marked as "Unknown". Whitney and Amanda both reported feeling drained, and thought the grave belonged to a female crime victim who had been beaten to death. They both got a painful sensation in the back of their heads, which they believed might have been the possible fatal injury. Amanda also picked up on the name Elaine.

Side Note: While away from the rest of the group, Josh observed objects flying too high in the sky to be airplanes. He thought, however, that they could have been satellites.

Upon returning to the west side at 10:52 PM, Beckie and Whitney both experienced pain in the solar plexus. Amanda reported pain in her chest. While walking around in the cemetery at 10:58 PM Beckie's pain intensified.

Logan showed Beckie and Josh the area where he and Trey had felt a large amount of energy. Upon entering the area Beckie's EMF detector quickly went from Safe (0-2.5 Milli Gauss) to Danger (8 Milli Gauss or higher) and then just as quickly went back to Safe where it remained.

While sitting on the bench next to the small building, Nancy said she saw a strange light on one of the nearby tombstones.

At 12:04 AM while looking for a spot to hold a Midnight EVP session Beckie heard what sounded like feet running on the grass, as if someone was charging toward the group. Shelley then felt a chill and Beckie got a headache.

While recording for EVP, the group asked questions and Shelley used a pair of dowsing rods. The rods appeared to respond and answer the questions by crossing and returning to the "rest" position when ordered to. A possible presence might have been communicating, seeming to identify himself as a war casualty named Earl. Later on in a different spot the group inquired about the little girl Trey had sensed. The dowsing rods continued to appear to respond, giving us the possible age of 5 and the letter K for the first letter of their name - the name possibly being Kaitlyn. Amanda was also picking up on the letter P and felt very strongly about it. Some EVPs were recorded during this session.

Please note that ESPI does not rely or make conclusions based solely on what are possibly psychic feelings and/or impressions. We do, however, note and document them in case they do turn out to be connected to something paranormal.

The investigation of Oak Hill Cemetery was an interesting one, with several people claiming to have personal experiences and possible psychic impressions. A couple team members had felt cold chills, sensations of being touched, and other aches and feelings of nausea next to a grave marked "Robbie". They both said they were getting the impression that his death was an accident. Afterward we were able to verify that Robbie had indeed died in an automobile accident, although the chance of that being coincidence still remains. We also seemed to be receiving possible spirit communication, both during the investigation and from the EVPs we caught. We also captured photos containing orbs that appeared to corroborate the experiences people were having. So in terms of evidence and experiences, Oak Hill seemed fairly active.

It’s difficult to label a cemetery haunted, for the very reason it being a cemetery. However, it seems likely that paranormal activity takes place there, which could probably be said for most cemeteries, graveyards, and other areas designated for burial and memorial purposes. It’s often asked why spirits would haunt a cemetery. Well, perhaps they’re not haunting it. Perhaps they’re just visiting it for some reason. And if they’re aware, maybe they become interested when there’s people hanging out around their grave and trying to communicate with them. On the other hand, maybe some spirits do in fact haunt cemeteries. Perhaps the land it was built on is considered sacred (or cursed) or was the scene of a battle. Or perhaps the spirit is merely a lost soul - too attached to their body and physical life and therefore doesn’t know how to move on. The cemetery itself could possibly be drawing in other types of entities as well. Whatever the case, Oak Hill Cemetery does appear to have a good amount of spirit activity, and it was an enjoyable investigation.
